Throwing, Jumping, Running

This month all 3 girls participated in their sport.  M and J were both finishing up their track meets and K was running in Landsharks.  She was so excited to finally get to do something.  She goes to all the track meets and watched her sisters throw and jump and run and she just longed to do that.  So she was so thrilled when the running club started up for Spring Track.

They practiced before school a couple of times each week and then had 3 races.  She did awesome!

RACE #2...Sprint Night (2 races)

RACE #3
Thank goodness for good weather....had to cancel the first race, but the next 3 Mondays were perfect so we made it up.  She said it was tough, but she really did well.  Good Job K!

Rotary Champion

May was a busy month for our family.....there is always something going on with school since it is the last month before summer.

May 1st we went to the Pikes Peak Center in downtown Colorado Springs to participate in the Rotary Champions ceremony.  M was nominated by the school's Athletic Director for Softball.
This is what the website says about this award.....
Rotary Champions is an annual event presented by the Rotary clubs of the Pikes Peak Region. The awards ceremony is held to honor outstanding scholar-athletes from El Paso and Teller County high schools who have placed a high value on academics and leadership in school, community, and home.  The minimum requirements for nomination include:  participation in a CHSAA sanctioned varsity sport; a grade point average of 3.0 or higher; evidence of leadership in school, community, and home.
We had never heard of this before, so we were thrilled that M was nominated.  It is quite the honor.

We decided to sit in the balcony since there were so many seats up front reserved for the nominees.  It was a great view and we didn't have to worry about heard getting in the way of pictures.  J had YW that night and didn't want to miss it, but K came with us.  She was rather bored with the whole thing so was happy to have my tablet to play on.  She also took pictures on it for me while I took some with my camera.
We are so proud of M and her strive for excellence in her school work and her love for sports....you are awesome!!!

The Universe

Since we have gotten our telescope for Christmas, we have had a great time gazing at stars and planets and galaxies and the moon and what ever else we can see in the night sky.  It doesn't matter how cold it is outside....if the sky is clear, we are out there looking through the scope. April was still chilly, but we wrap up in blankets and hoodies and venture out.
Of course, the moon is always fun to look at.....
And Saturn too.  It almost looks fake in the picture, but it is so cool that we can see its rings.
We are still learning all the gadgets, but just looking at galaxies are something that is just plain amazing.
We love our new toy!
