Duke and Daisy

This is Daisy.......
And she came to live with us this weekend while her owners went out of town.  She is a very good dog and we have had a good time with her.....ok well maybe not so much Duke.  He was quite concerned that this other dog was coming into HIS home and going to take over.  He basically followed her around all the time and wouldn't relax.  When he would finally lay down, Daisy would come close and he would feel the need to get up.  It was actually very comical to watch.  They really did get along, just funny to see the dynamics of 2 dogs living in the same space with each other.
The funniest thing was to watch them with the balls.  We have several dog balls around the house (I really don't know why we have 3 out at the same time, but we do) and so there really is no need to have the same one right?????  Anyone who knows Duke, knows his love to play ball......his ANNOYING love to play ball.  He will put the ball near you, walk away and turn for you to throw it to him.  Well, as soon as he would drop it, Daisy would pick it up and walk away, leaving Duke to think that he was still waiting for us to throw it.  It was so funny cuz they would do this over and over again.
Or we would throw the ball, they would both chase after it with Duke usually the one to get it.  Daisy would come back with him dejected and it would start all over again.  Finally we had to get both balls and throw them at the same time so they could each get one.  Of course, Duke always wanted a specific one so if Daisy happened to get it, he would follow her around until she dropped it.
As much fun as we have had with these dogs, I am convinced that I do not want to be a two dog household, much to the children's disappointment.  But we can have another dog visit whenever they want.
