It is that time of year again when T's Cross Country team has their annual 24 Relay to earn money. It starts on a Friday afternoon at 3:30 and goes until Saturday at the same time. It is a big fundraiser and one that the kids totally love. This year T and Cory started it off as the first ones to run so I went to take pictures. He doesn't get why I go so often....he says that I have plenty of pictures of him running. He will understand once he is a parent. I love being there supporting him and the girls had a good time coming with me this year.
So T ran 2 miles several times throughout the night and into the next day. Normally they run in pairs, but the team is smaller this year and so the more seasoned runners also had to run on their own. T being one of those had a 7:18 pm run time on his own. J has to run 1 1/2 miles over the weekend for her XC team, so she ran with him during that solo time. It was fun to see them run together and he really was a good motivator for her. She commented afterwards how much he pushed her, gave her pointers and she really loved it. She was thrilled that she ran 2 full miles without stopping. Way to go J!
So the kids play in between their run times......
sing songs.........
and eat.....(a midnight run to Village Inn is the tradition)
and sleep, especially during the night.
T also had run times at11:50PM and 3:34AM which I did not witness as I was comfy in my bed at home. But he did run again at 7:34AM which I came back to watch him. I had our RS Craft day for the entire day and would miss all his other run times for the day so wanted to catch him first thing. He was actually asleep when I arrived and it was a trick to figure out which tent he was in without waking up all the others.
He was suppose to run twice more before it was over, but he mentioned to me later that he ran a few more times than that to cover other people that left. I think he ended up running about 20 miles over the 24 hours.....and he was wiped! He came home and slept for quite some time and was very tired the rest of the night....didn't even want to go out to dinner with the family...that is saying something. But he had a good time as usual. The team ran over 450 miles. Well done team!

What a fun way to raise money. I remember cross country in high school. Fun times.
On a side note...I never knew FedEx had an arrow in it. Thanks for pointing that out, I guess Derek knew about the arrow but never told me about it. ;)
