Class of 2012

I can not believe that this day has come......my oldest has graduated from high school.
I still remember the day he was born.....the day he made me a MOM!  I knew then that it was my job to take care of this sweet baby boy.  It was up to me and my hubby to teach him everything he needed to know to go out into the world and be a good person....a strong individual who could tackle anything and be successful and happy and be on his own.  The day he would leave our home and make a home for himself.  So maybe that is not what is going to happen just yet, but this graduation day marks the end of what my life has been for the last almost 19 years...we have taught him the best we could and now we will see how well we did our job as parents.  This is a hard step to finally make....I have said this before....I am not sure I am ready to let him go.  But I know I have to and I know that my life (our family life) will never be the same again.  It is a joyful sadness.....a heart wrenching ache that will be with me for a long time.  But I am getting ahead of myself....this post is a happy post as T has accomplished a great feat.....getting through high school with good grades, good experiences, good friends, good looks, good values, and good memories.

He graduated on Saturday, May 26th at 5pm in the evening at the World Arena.  His girlfriend graduated that same day at 1pm, so he was basically there from 11:30am to 7pm.  It was a long day for him but it was a good day too.
My parents came in to town Thursday night and spent the weekend with us.  We had a great time visiting with them.  We were happy to take advantage of their pool at the hotel a few times as well.  We were not sure what the night of graduation held for T, so we went out Friday night to celebrate at HuHot.

He did not want a graduation party....even though I tried to convince him otherwise, so we just did family stuff instead.  My mother-in-law came with us to graduation as well.  It was nice to have her along for the ride.

We had great seats, thanks to Mel, in the arena....right in the middle and up just enough to get a good view of everything.  Thank goodness we knew what side he was coming in on, so we spotted him right away.  We kept hoping he would look up, but he had no idea where we were.
After he was seated and the principal asked everyone to turn around and find their parents, he still couldn't see us.  It wasn't until after my hubby yelled at him that he found us. And we didn't have any trouble finding him when he had his back to us.  Can you see why......

It was a nice program.....not too long.  Well, it was long, but when there is under 300 graduates, it was quicker than say our graduations years ago. I took a movie of them announcing his name and getting his diploma so I had to get the stills from the movie....didn't turn out as clear, but I love the movie.
They asked all those who were going into education to please stand.....engineering please stand....etc.  One category was serving in the military so of course he stood.  Notice the sash he is wearing for JROTC.  They decided to put all their ribbons on it and I like it!
It was fun to have him turn around and point to us and see the happiness on his face.  He had a good time graduating with all his friends.
Afterwards, pictures......
And then dinner at Rudy's BBQ....YUMMO!  And swimming until midnight.  It was a great celebration and now he is on to bigger and better things.

CONGRATS T!
We are so very proud of you!

Wow, I don't think I've seen anyone enjoy graduation more than he did! :)
