The Annual Christmas Tree Hunt

Saturday we headed to the forest in search of that perfect Christmas tree. We have never really found it since these trees are more like the Charlie Brown Christmas trees, but this year we found the best one yet. We were thrilled to find it standing alone without other trees crowding it. It was about 14 feet tall and seemed to not have many bare spots which is rare to find. It was a gorgeous day to spend outside hiking and playing in the snow. We all look forward to going every year.
Once we got home, the boys went to work putting the outside lights up after getting the tree into the house. We had no time to decorate it as we had a whole evening planned with other things.
M was in the Parade of Lights again this year with her middle school band. She was front row right on the end as usual playing the trombone. It was such a nice night to watch a parade. We got there late and it was packed so we didn' even get to put our chairs out and relax. But it was fun anyway. Last year T was in it too and they were on opposite ends of the front row. So it was nice to have her march right next to us.
After that was over, we hurried to the church building to attend our ward Christmas party. We felt bad that we were not dressed in the theme of the night as it was all decorated to look like Bethlehem. The Activities Committee did a great job setting the mood for the night. We did bring our blankets to sit on while we ate and watched the nativity. We had a good time, but we were so tired from running all day that we were happy when the evening was over and we could go home and put on our jammies. It was quite the fun family day. There is never enough of those kind of days for me so I love having them when I can. Now we just need to decorate the tree and we are set for the season.
