Many, many years ago, my family would get together with friends every year and go tubing down the South Platte River. There is a spot that is in the shape of a horseshoe, so you float twice as far as you have to walk to put back in. My brother's best friend owned a tire shop so we had those huge truck tire tubes to float down the river on. It was always so much fun (I've got to find those pictures) even though I almost drown one year after falling off the tube and getting caught in an under current.
Anyway, the youth are having a Tubing Trip and they asked me several weeks ago where that "horseshoe" was located. I wanted to make sure that I had my directions right for them, so we took a drive up to the mountains to find that exact spot in my memory. We found it and it was almost the same as I remember it. The bush along the river's edge has grown quite a bit so there is not quite the sandy beach that we would hang out on, but other than that it was the same. It was fun to remember the fun times and share them with my family. We had a blast just hanging out and throwing rocks in the river. It was a gorgeous day even though it rained a bit on the way up. After being there, I have decided that I am going to make a stronger commitment to take my family tubing there next summer-hopefully making it a tradition again as it was when I was a youth.

I have to post this next picture because I thought it was way too cute. K gave me some purple flowers - which she does all the time anyway. But J doesn't usually find flowers for me --she is a daddy's girl and for some reason her dad just doesn't get a kick out of getting flowers. I watched her pick them with great care and walk up the steep rock to give them to me. I couldn't resist taking a picture-thanks J for the purdy flowers

For some reason I thought you grew up in CA?
I've never heard of that place before. Sounds fun! I like your "purdy" picture of J and the flowers. Her eyes are beautiful!
I actually spent 8 years in Littleton -2nd grade til 9th grade then it was on to CA where I officially became a California girl!
Mel-I love that pic of J! My how she has grown-such a beautiful girl! :)
What fun memories! Obviously your floating down memory lane was a good experience. I hope you do find those photos. They would be fun to see!
Sounds like a beautiful place! We'll have to find it.
How I loved our outings the South Platte River. So many wonderful memories while living in Colorado with the most memorable was the tubing down the river with friends.
