Turning 12 AND Camp

Girl's Camp is going on as we speak.  M has gone for a few years now and always loves it.  However J was turning 12 during actual camp.  In fact 2 of J's friend's are turning 12 in July, so the stake made a new rule that anyone turning 12 by Sep could go.  Otherwise, our ward would have only 2 girls.  J was so excited to know that she was going to camp and with her two BFF's too.  She was thrilled to go, couldn't wait to get out the door Tuesday morning.......
The next day was her birthday and I couldn't stand the fact that I was not going to be with her as she turned 12, so I made plans to surprise her by going up for the afternoon.  I called her that morning on the leader's cell phone to wish her a happy birthday.  She told me that I should come up, but I told her I had plans (ok so the plans were to come up, but.....I wasn't going to tell her that)   I love surprises......

I grabbed a friend and her daughter, and K and took off.  (It was an 1 1/2 hours away and I wanted company).  J was very surprised and so was M.  I brought her a glazed donut with candles that were hard to stay lit until she blew them out......

A tiger Beanie Boo holding a Reese's and a balloon with a Sprite.......

Then of course, another favorite (she had to share with the other girls).......

It was fun to see her as an official Young Woman!  How can she be this old already....and so tall.  She has really spurted up this last year.  Is that what middle school does to you??  Anyway, we spent the afternoon doing crafts...making hair ponies......

singing songs and eating dinner.........

and playing Minute to Win It games......

It was so much fun...it reminded me of my days at camp as a youth.  I wanted to stay, but decided that after the clock struck 8:16pm (her actual time of birth) that we would leave to go home.  I am glad that I could make the trip and see my girls.  The house is so quiet.  Come home girls!!
