Snow or Sun?

I just wanted to tell you that my children are outside swimming right now and having a nice WARM time. We were wearing shorts, flip flops and sunglasses today. I hear it is a BLIZZARD at home today. I am so sorry. It is very windy here though. Do you feel sorry for me? (I wouldn't either) I am happy to be right here, right now!

And so it is-she's a girl!

Tonight my almost 7 year old finally became a girl! Yes, I know it is shocking, but it is true! :-) In an earlier post (2/19), I told you of the conversation I had with her about losing both her front teeth and becoming a big girl. And she was not so keen on that idea. Well, tonight she lost the 2nd front tooth and she is now in fact A BIG GIRL! She tugged and pulled on that thing all night and right before bed, she finally pulled it out. Her first words after our excited screams were: "I'm a girl now!" (That phrase just cracks me up-like she wasn't a girl before) She looks so cute toothless! Can't wait to see what the tooth fairy brings.

Finally!

Back in Sept or around that time (it has been so long I can't remember), some ladies in my ward started a knitting class. I thought it would be fun to try my hand at knitting AGAIN. I learned back when I was around 10 or so (Merrie Miss age--did I just date myself?)and got only about 3 inches on a very wide, very red scarf. So I thought it was time to learn again. I started a scarf for one of my little girls and finished that rather quickly. Then they taught us how to pearl as well and the next project was a matching hat. Let's just say, I started it in like November and then put it down until last week. I am happy to say I finished it today! I thought I would run out of yarn so added a stripe in the middle and I was happy when J said she liked it. I am so thrilled with it that I have started a scarf for K in bright pink of course and a hat for me in white and tan. I am hoping that it will not take me as long now that I know how to do it. Even though it is the first day of spring, I think if I hurry we can still enjoy them before the threat of snow disappears. Here in Colorado, that should give me another month. Guess I better get busy!

Early Bird

I wish I liked to wake up early in the morning, but I don't. That doesn't stop me from doing so since I am up every morning at 4:45. To be honest, my alarm goes off at that time only to make sure T is up and getting ready for seminary. Then I re-set it and go back to bed for 2 hours. I should just get up and exercise or something productive, but isn't sleeping good for you too?

Being up before the sun rises has its advantages, one being picture moments. Most generally I don't think to get my camera (or I don't have it near by) even though I think to myself what a great picture that would be. But the other morning as I was letting the dog out, I happened to look at Pikes Peak and saw the moon sitting right above the peak. What a great shot. The camera doesn't do it justice. I was glad that I got it when I did because only 2 minutes later as I was driving T to school since he was late, it was half way behind the mountain already. Again, why did I not have my camera. I need to keep an extra one in the car I guess. That one would have been a good one too.

Another Favorite

Okay, everyone has favorite things. Some of those favorite things you can't seem to live without and some are great to have but you could live without them if you had to. I could never live without brushing my teeth. It is not considered a favorite thing of mine, just a necessity for me. That is one thing I have to do every morning first thing, no matter what. Anyway, I have gotten off the subject. All of you know that chapstick is one of my favorite things. I have a tube everywhere you can think of so I don't have to go far to put some on my lips. I only like a certain kind that I can now only buy when I go to Utah, so I clean out the shelves at the stores when I go so it will get me through until my next trip. Crazy I know, but it is my favorite and I can't live without it. Well, I have discovered another favorite thing. FRUIT NATURALS RED GRAPEFRUIT. I love grapefruit but hate getting it ready to eat when you buy a whole one. Then if you don't eat it right away, it goes bad. Anyway, I had a coupon for a box of these at Costco. I had sampled them there before, but never bought them. So I finally bought some the other day - 2 boxes in fact--and they are so good. They are a great snack anytime and of course, they are great for breakfast. But they are already cut up for you and packed in the yummy juice and all ready to go. LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!!! This is one of those favorite things that I could live without if I had to, but I sure hope I don't ever have to. I am so glad that no one else in my family likes them--all the more for me!

Anxious!

What beautiful weather we had today. We are in the 70's which is odd for March. But I am not complaining at all. I am so ready for spring and summer I just can't stand it. It felt so good to paint my toes in a fun pink color and wear my flip flops today. I didn't go anywhere since I had to stay home for the basement workers, but just having the windows open and seeing the sun shine through was enough to get me into the mood. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love the sun, wearing shorts and going bare foot--that must be the California gal in me. Point me to the Beach!!!
