"How I Spent My Spring Break" An essay by.....

Remember all those fun writing assignments we would get in school after vacation breaks. (My first grader has to do one this week) Well I promise not to bore you with all the details of our spring break, but it does come down to one simple equation:

SUN + SAND + SURF - RESPONSIBILITIES = PARADISE!!

It is true that while everyone was suffering with the snow and cold, our family was enjoying the warm weather in Arizona. What you may not know is that after a couple of days of that, my wonderful hubby and I escaped into a whole other world all together leaving our sweet children in the hands of my sister. (Thanks Deb)

We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary a few months early by going on a fabulous cruise on the world's largest cruise ship to the Caribbean. :) Yes, we had the best time ever; yes, we wish we were still there; yes, we still feel like we are floating on a ship; and yes, we did miss our kids.....eventually. If you have never been on a cruise before, you will be hooked the first time you go. There is nothing better as you can eat, play, sleep, eat, explore, read, and swim all you want. Did I mention you can eat all you want? You can do whatever you want or nothing at all and still feel like you did so much. And you get to see different parts of the world on top of it all. We spent 7 nights on board the Liberty of the Seas going to San Juan, Puerto Rico and Philipsburg, St, Maarten as well as the cruise lines own private island in Haiti. We played golf, surfed, boggie boarded, swam, sat in the jacuzzi, laid out by the pool, ate, ate and ate, saw tons of shows, danced, played shuffleboard and that was all on the ship. We could have climbed the rock wall, played basketball, ice skated and been a part of the sexy legs competition as well, but we ran out of time. I know you wonder how you can run out of time when you are just sailing on a ship for days, but you do--there is too many things to do.

The weather was great. It was very windy for most of the trip but that helped keep us from dying of the heat, so we really didn't mind too much. We even had a sprinkle of rain for an hour but it never got us inside. The sunsets were gorgeous. I could stay on deck for hours just watching the ocean. We loved St. Maarten, lots to do there and such a cute island. We shopped and then sat on the beach the rest of the day. San Juan was okay but not too much to do other than shop. We did walk out to the fort at the point and thought that was interesting. We wanted to go on the Canopy Tour where you get to swing from tree to tree at the tops of the trees, but it was sold out. We made sure we were on the ship by the time it got dark though. Not somewhere you would want to be after dark. We love Labadee Haiti--there is always lots to do there and they are building more too - the zip line was so fun. My DH loved the extra sea days and I would have loved another port to see, but I'm easy. Give me another day by the pool and I will not complain.
I did take over 500 pictures which I thought was conservative for me anyway. It will take awhile to sort through them and get them on the computer, so I will try to add some to this post and then I will have to add others to a slide show so you won't be bored with them unless you want to be.

It is hard to be home and back into the routine of daily life. I really didn't miss cooking dinner every night and still eating better than ever. Maybe we will have spaghetti tonight!

I'm jealous!! Not only for the cruise but for AZ too. I miss my family and the warm weather. We are going back in July so I am sure I will get my full of warm weather and swimming.

looks fabulous! I am so glad you had a wonderful time. We have never been on a cruise, but would like too maybe one day. We worry too much about Jared getting sick and getting to the ER quick enough. Although I know they have IV's and that is really all he needs when he is down. Do you ever get sea sick? We just haven't breved it and gone. What is your favorite one?

I don't think you'd bore us with your stories, but I certainly am envious! I am SO glad you had such a good time. I think you deserved a chance to get away like that!
