naPPey ButnaY

(You'll find out the reason for the title at the end of this post)

You know, it is amazing how as you get older, birthdays seem to just fade away into normal days. Yea, it is my birthday today and I don't think you would ever know it. I still had to get up and get the kids off to school. I still had to run errands, volunteer at school, and pick up carpool. Tonight is YM/YW and so my hubby will be gone with the big kids, so no dinner out either. Like I said, just a normal day. Did I really turn another year older? (it would be nice to stop aging, huh?!)

The one thing that I did do for myself today is go shopping. I don't normally go specifically for me and only me so it was nice to spend a few hours at the mall. I really don't like the mall-most of the stores I like are right near me--but I had an awesome coupon I couldn't pass up. Every April, Victoria Secret (OH,LA,LA) sends me a $10 off gift card for my birthday. I can hear all the snickers now, but have you ever tried their lotions, body sprays, and body wash? I think they are my favorite, better than Bath and Body Works. They had a special going on where you could buy 7 of their Secret Garden Collection products for $35 and then you get one more for free. Also, if you tried on a certain item in their store, you got another $5 off a purchase. So you can see all the great things I got for only $20. Happy Birthday to me!!!! I even had a chocolate goodie waiting on the front porch when I returned.(Thanks Sarah!)My family has been so great even though we couldn't really celebrate on my actual birthday. We went out to Red Robin for dinner on Monday night (free birthday burger) and they gave me my presents last night with a Culver's ice cream cake (YUM). We are going to the temple on Saturday so that will be nice and I even think my hubby is taking me out on Friday to use one of the many birthday coupons that I have received this past week. So I guess you can say I am lucky to get to celebrate all week. My kids were so great this morning to all wish me a happy birthday without being reminded to do so, even at 5:30am when T opened my door and woke me up. Hey, thank you to all those that posted birthday wishes on "my page". That was so sweet. Also, thanks to my great friends who cared enough to call me long distance to chat. You guys are the best.

To top it off, my husband came home from work tonight and brought me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers that smells so good. The arrangement is very unusual with flowers that I wouldn't normally put together. There are some small daisy like flowers in there that are the prettiest color of burgandy with orange tips. Good choice honey!

Sorry Jean---no picture with the birthday hat. No one wanted to go downstairs to get it and since I was the birthday girl, I thought it strange for me to be the one to go. Besides, it would mess up my hair, right? :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

Post Note: When I went in to J's class to help this afternoon, it was so sweet to hear all the kids wish me a happy birthday and give me hugs. Then as I was about to leave, K's teacher came up to me and handed me a stack of papers tied with a string. She said that K was so excited that today was my birthday and was telling everyone, that she decided to have them all make cards for me. Let me tell you, that made my day. Those 1st graders are so cute. (Hence the title of this post-it was one child's way of sounding out Happy Birthday)

I am off to treat my little girls and myself to some ice cream! Good night!

A culver's ice cream cake eh! SO JEALOUS! I was addicted to their shakes right before we moved. NO BIRTHDAY HAT? Isn't that breaking a cardinal birthday rule? :) You made out at VS, good for you!
Happy Birthday, have fun celebrating all week long! Add a pic of your flowers.

Connor said last night as we got off the phone, "Sister McAllister has an Earth Day...Birthday! Very cool..." It is true the older we get thoe birthdays tend to be just another day... Okay the cake from Culvers looks so yummy...if I were only closer. ;)

I'm glad you got to do a little something for yourself on your birthday. The cards from the 1st graders is too cute. Keep on celebrating - this is your birthday week!
