Who Would Have Thought

Okay--I consider myself an outdoor-kind of girl.  I grew up liking to do all sorts of things outside--camping, hiking, bike riding, gardening, sighseeing, tubing, the beach (can't forget that one), and the list goes on.   Since Colorado is considered such an outdoor state and I live here, I have tried some activities that I've never done before---fishing and geocaching to name just a couple.  So then it shouldn't seem so odd to try my hand at another new "outdoor" activity.  But never in my dreams would I have pictured myself doing this and loving it.........
We decided to take advantage of this gorgeous day today and go to the shooting range.  My hubby was so excited to show us all how it is done.

T was gone with friends (and was quite upset that he missed out, but girls tend to outway guns at his age--although it was a tough choice for him) but the rest of us went and had a blast.  J tried it once and hated it, but did come back to shoot one more time.  Way to go J!
K loved it even though the gun was bigger than she was. She kept coming back for more tries.
M was not sure she really wanted to go out there in the first place, but she sure was glad she did.  She loved it and actually hit several clay pigeons.  We commented how she was our very own Annie Oakley.
As for me, I had a great time too.  I even hit a couple--not very good but I thought it wasn't bad for my first time ever shooting a shotgun.  My hubby hit the most....but then this wasn't his first time (although his first time he hit even more, so I guess that doesn't matter)
We all loved it so much that we can't wait to go again.  All our upper arms are sore and bruised from the kickback of the gun, but we don't care--it was that much fun.  I think we found another family favorite.  Who knew!

I took a defensive course in women's shooting this spring and I totally enjoy shooting. Matt pretty much forced me to go by signing me up (it was with his boss) but I really enjoyed learning how to shoot. We have been back to the gun range once since then.
