40- something!

This past weekend couldn't have been more busy.  (ok , it really could have, but it was busy enough for me)

The weekend started with my birthday.  Yep, another one came around! As much as I tried to stop it, it found its way to me anyway....Yikes.  The older I get, the more I feel it.  But thank goodness I don't look it.  I am amazed at the number of people that are flabbergasted that I am this old.  (you thought I was going to tell you, huh?)  Those that know me really well, know exactly how old I am.  Those that don't, can still think I am 36!  I am grateful for the good "youthful" genes that my parents gave me.

It turned out to be a good day.  I knew it would when my kids had the day off of school for a staff development day.  I love spending time with my children, no matter the reason.  Tried to get my hubby to stay home from work, but that was a no-go.  But it was nice to take my girls to a movie with me to celebrate.  We don't normally go to the BIG theater......usually it is the dollar theater.  And I even splurged and bought popcorn and drinks (that never happens at the normal theaters)  We saw HOP!  I thought it was fitting being Easter weekend....it was very cute!

The rest of the afternoon was spent with M at track practice, T hiking, and me watching a friend's baby for a couple of hours.  It was nice and relaxing, which I like too.  Then that evening we headed to dinner at the place of my choice.....Red Robin!  I love their burgers and fries......lots of calories!  We were so full, that I didn't get my birthday dessert.  (HINT: still waiting for that hubby!!!!)  Then we watched a the movie "Scorcerer's Apprentice"...I really do like that movie.

I am so grateful for good friends at this time of year.  A few took me out to lunch at Panera Bread earlier in the week.  YUM.....I love their broccoli cheddar soup and bread.  Thanks ladies for the good company and good food.  I love you guys!  Then later in the week, I had another lunch date with a good friend.  She took me to the new restaurant up north that I have been dieing to try----Cheddars.  It was so yummy....gotta go back and take my hubby now.  And she gave me a gift card for a massage!  She knows me so well and I am so excited to use it.  Love you  girlfriend!  Then I had a boatload of messages on facebook throughout the day from friends and family sending birthday wishes...what a great invention that site is. (mostly) I received a gift in the mail from a close friend that means the world to me.  Sure wish we lived closer, but thanks Nee for the bracelet...I love it!

I understand I do not have my present yet from the family (my hubby did buy me flowers), however, I have a few new items in my house that I consider my presents....even though they were not intended to be.  Here is the first one......

I really don't consider this my present as I bought this a few months ago when it was on sale.  In fact, I bought one for the kitchen and another for my bedroom.  Really tired of the verticals on the windows and can't wait to get the ones in the family room replaced too.  These shades are so great.

But then I had told my hubby that I wanted to use some of the tax return to buy a new one of these.......

Ours is the original one the builder put in and it has been going out for a really long time.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it leaks water and sometimes it doesn't.  So that was in the plans all along, it just happened that it fell on being delivered the day before my birthday.

Then earlier this week, we had to buy this......

I went to reheat something and I actually got shocked.  It was the weirdest thing to feel it in my teeth.  It also sounded like a firecracker going off, but then when I hit that button again, it worked.  It had made some funny sounds in the past, but since it shocked me, my hubby decided it was time for a new one.

So it has been fun to have these new toys in our home to make it run smoother.  T asked if we were getting a new stove too.  Haha...that still works fine although I would love a new one of those too.  Thank goodness the washer and dryer still work as I want those thousand dollar ones to replace those.  A little too far out of the budget, no matter if they are broken or not.  Dream on, I say!

So Happy Birthday to me and maybe next year it will bypass me altogether.
