On Sunday, August 19th, T had his mission farewell. He did such a fabulous job on his talk and everyone afterwards came up and said that it was evident that he was ready. That he presented that talk just like a missionary. Oh Yea....he is ready!
We were so thrilled to have several family members there to support T. My hubby's brother and his family as well as his mother. The other brother was sick and couldn't make it. His sister wasn't able to come either as her husband is ill, but her son (T's cousin) and wife and baby came for them.
Unfortunately no one from my family could come out....health issues and kids in school and such. I missed having that support there, but understood. It was so great to have some close friends come down from Parker. We have been friends for something like 17 years....
T had a former youth leader come too. He was his 11 year old scout leader and then seemed to move up as T did in YM's. He has been a constant influence on T and he considers T on of "his sons".
And another great family that we adores is this family....
He was T's wrestling coach in 7th grade and one of his teachers. He was also M's discus coach when she was in 7th too. He would have been a teacher for J, but he was diagnosed with a brain tumor 1 1/2 years ago and had to quit teaching. We love him and were excited that he felt well enough to come. It was the first time I had meet the family so it was great to see them. They are members of the church and T really looks up to him. He was lucky to get to spend a day recently with him near his home shooting and just hanging out.
Interestingly, there was a row of "old folks" ...a whole pew in the chapel of men and women over the age of 70. M asked me who they were as we found it odd...no idea. Come to find out they were members of the Daughters of the Pioneer (or something like that as Geniel knew who most of them). They had come to support T. Kind of weird, but cool too.
Mel and her family were there. It is going to be hard for her, but so glad that she is supporting T on this and encouraged him to go.
Of course, a friend that goes to the singles ward came back for his talk. He went to England on his mission and has been back about a year maybe.
He was quite tired of picture taking by the end of it all, but I managed to get some family pix too....of course. We are so proud of you T and the man you have become!
