It's Electric!

The fun thing about Colorado summers is the thunderstorms complete with thunder and lightning.  Last night was one amazing storm.  We were at my in-laws seeing some family that had come into town for the night and as we were leaving we were in awe of the amount of lightning bolts that could be seen.  No rain and little thunder, just flashes everywhere.  They live north from us so they are across the freeway from the Air Force Academy and up on a hill so they have a unobstructed view of the mountains.  The storm was over those mountains so every time there was a bolt you could see the outline of the mountains and the clouds around it.  It was absolutely gorgeous.  I wish I would have had my camera cuz I could have gotten some fantastic shots.  All the way home, I was bummed that I couldn't capture any of this.  So as soon as we got home, we dropped the kids off to get ready for bed, grabbed my camera and we went back out.  By that time though the rain had started and you couldn't see the mountains anymore because the clouds had all formed one blanket.  Again, bummed.  But I did manage to get a few good shots despite the rain drops on the window.

I guess I will need to bring my camera everywhere I go from now on--you never know when you will get that perfect opportunity for that once in a lifetime shot.

NOTE:  It is funny cuz we were joking about that on the way over there.  My family was giving my a hard time about it being an appendage of me and where was it.  I guess I better attach it to my body.

Great pics! Yep, I bought a cheapo camera that I put in my purse/backpack...it never leaves my side. However, I have started to want a 'nicer' camera...probablt that won't leave my side either. Memories... :o)
