The Hunt is On!

Yesterday we spent the afternoon hunting for our Christmas tree.....not to mention snow.  With the temperatures in the 20's and a wind chill, you would think that snow was easy to find.  No chance.  There was more dirt than snow.  This is the first year that it has been this cold AND had the least amount of snow on the ground.  Our car is so dusty and dirty you would think we had gone camping in the backwoods for a week instead of tree hunting in the winter.

But I guess I should continue with the hunt for our Christmas tree.  We found one as we usually do....by looking way up high in the sky.  Since we normally get at least a 10 footer, we have to look at the tops of the high trees to find the perfect one.

We always have so much fun traipsing through the forest....ok, so T and Duke usually run way ahead and we have to keep calling them back.  My hubby and I have to keep reminding the kids that they need to be looking for trees and not just running around.  They have so much energy and they just want to run and play.

But we usually find one that suits everyone. It was between these two.  Which one do you think we picked?

T loves all things that are boy, so it is obvious that he is the one that cuts the tree done each year. However, he did let K try and saw a few times before taking over again.

The worst part is carrying it back out, going up and down hills, dodging tree stumps and low hanging branches.  I am just glad that I don't have to help carry it anymore.  (You guys are so buff!)

While the boys were tying it to the top of the van, us girls had fun goofing around and taking pix.

And of course, I had to get a family pix as well.  I never seem to get in any of the pix from the tree hunt, so I made sure to get a few family shots this year.

After a stop for lunch in Woodland Park, we made it home in time to put the tree up in the stand and leave it for another day.  T had a dance to get to and the rest of us were off to a Christmas party at a friend's house.  We will decorate it for FHE on Monday. (another post of the decorated tree to come)

I am so glad we have this tradition every year to be together as a family and enjoy the outdoors.  Next year I hope it is not that cold.  And if it is...there better be snow to show for it.
