The Lunchbox!

M had her basketball Banquet this week at Fargos Pizza.  I haven't been there in years and I probably won't be there again for quite awhile.  The food is pretty good....they have a good salad bar...but they are so high priced that we would never go there unless it was for something like this.

It was a busy night and so my hubby and I had to divide and conquer.  He took T to his volleyball games while all us girls went to the banquet.  It lasted a long time, but it was a great night for M.
She played JV this year and the coach had nothing but great things to say about her.  Here are some of the things that she said about her.....
~She was by far the most improved player of the year
~She started out the year being very sick but with every game you could see her getting stronger and      better
~she was always on the floor going after the ball, or passing the ball to teammates
~she had some of the best screens on the team, even falling over to cause a foul
~they are looking forward to her coming back next year

Because of all that, she was awarded the famous "lunchbox".....
This lunchbox was a big part of the team and their season.  At the beginning of the season, each girl wrote a goal they wanted to accomplish and then the team wrote their team goals and they were put into the box.  Each day at practice, the team would decide who worked the hardest and they would get the lunchbox.  Then for the whole next day, the girl had to carry it around school...they couldn't ever put it in their locker....they always had to have it on their person at all times.  I did not keep track of how many times M got it, but it was a lot and maybe even the most of anyone on JV.  (Varsity had their own)  Every so often each girl would add something to the box so at the end, it had some fun memories stuffed inside.

The lunch box was deemed the Captain's Award, and M got that for all her efforts during the season.  It is actually quite the honor and she will display it with pride in her room. She was also given a nice pair of warm ups as part of the award.  Not bad girl!
She says she misses basketball (now that she is in track) and that is something for someone who wasn't sure she really wanted to go out for the team and even thought about giving it up during the season.  Now she can't wait for next year.  You are awesome!!!
